Frequently Asked Questions
-
Items will be listed on our Ebay and Poshmark stores in 30-day increments. If an item fails to sell in that time period, its price is reduced incrementally each selling period until it sells.
-
If you choose the consignment model, the more the item sells for, the higher percentage of the profits you get.
The profit share works on a sliding scale based on the item’s sale price (minus fees and shipping, which are roughly 17-20%):$40 - $100: You get 50%
$101 - $250: You get 60%
$251 - $500: You get 70%
$500 and above: You get 80%A few examples…
If a jacket sells for $200, after fees and shipping the profit would be around $160. So, you’d get $96 and Middleman Consignment would get $64.
If a pair of pants sells for $50, after fees and shipping the profit would be around $40. So, we’d each get $20.
If a suit sells for $650, after fees and shipping the profit would be around $550. So, you’d get $440 and MiddlemanConsignment would get $110.
If you choose to get paid up front, you’ll get $5 per qualifying item.
If you choose to have this be a donation…THANK YOU! In addition to helping give these clothes a second life and keeping them out of landfills, a portion of each of these sales will go to charity: water, helping provide clean drinking water to people in developing countries. -
After doing this for more than six years and selling over 20,000 items, I’ve learned how to evaluate that sweet spot between getting as much money as possible for a pre-owned item AND getting it to sell in a reasonable amount of time.
Ebay has a great way to find what similar items (brands/styles) have sold for in the last 90 days.
I typically try to list items on the higher end of the range of what they've sold for, and then discount them over time (which helps the inventory sell through so I don't just become a warehouse).
-
You will be paid via Venmo or Zelle two weeks after the item’s sale date.
-
Once you’ve filled the box (or boxes) with qualifying items, fill out the form above. I will email you a prepaid postage label. Just print the label, put it anywhere on the box and drop it of anywhere that accepts UPS.
Once I receive the items, I’ll inspect them to double check that everything qualifies. I’ll then list the items in my store.
When an item sells, I will send you your earnings two weeks after the item sells (this is to allow for returns in the event an item doesn’t work out). -
There’s no upper limit! Send as many items in as you want as long as they are on the Brands List and don’t have any defects.
Lower limit = 5 items
-
Reach out to me via email (tyler@middlemanconsignent.com) or just send it along with everything else. If it doesn’t qualify, I can just donate it or mail it back for $10.
-
You can drop it off anywhere that ships UPS. Here is a UPS Store locator.
-
Unfortunately, no. Please double check your items thoroughly before sending them in.
Common wear that would disqualify an item: holes, stains, collar wear, pilling, thread pulls, underarm discoloration, animal hair, smells, missing buttons and fading. -
While I primarily specialize in men’s clothing, I’m open to selling womens clothing if it makes sense. Email me (tyler@middlemanconsignment.com) with specific items and we can go from there.
What People
Are Saying
"For years I kept telling myself I’d get around to selling the clothes I no longer wear. Or I’d trick myself into thinking there would be some future occasion in which a slightly undersized olive fleece would come in handy. Finally I stopped lying to myself, I gave all my stuff to Middleman Consignment, and it was like magic. I was getting paid to have a cleaner closet. I’ve probably sold over 100 items because it’s so easy."
Tripp in Atlanta
“I assumed selling my old clothes would barely be worth the trouble, which is exactly why I kept putting it off. But Middleman Consignment completely changed my perspective. Items I thought had no value sold quickly, and the payouts were genuinely surprising. The communication was smooth, the listings looked great, and I never had to lift a finger. What started as a small cleanout turned into real extra income — far more than I ever expected.”
Steve in Nashville
“My closet was full of perfectly good clothes I never wore, but the idea of selling them myself felt overwhelming. Sending everything to Middleman Consignment was the best decision I could’ve made. They handled every detail — photos, listings, shipping — and I watched pieces I’d forgotten about turn into steady payouts. The combination of decluttering and earning actual money felt incredible. I’ve already sent multiple boxes because the process is just that easy.”
